Need Help Paying Rent?
Rental assistance is available for low-income Santa Clara County residents who have been financially impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. Both renters and landlords can apply!
All new applicants should apply through the statewide CA COVID-19 Rent Relief program.
For more information on eligibility criteria and to start an application, visit HousingIsKey.com or call (833) 430-2122.
Not eligible for COVID-19 rent relief? Call the Santa Clara County Homelessness Prevention System at 408-926-8885 to see if you qualify for other forms of assistance.
IMPORTANT! Educate yourself on the State’s current eviction protections.
From now until September 30, State law prohibits landlords from evicting tenants who are behind on rent due to a COVID-19 related hardship - but you must take certain steps to qualify for these eviction protections. Visit the State of California’s “Housing is Key” website for detailed information on the state law, including what you need to do to avoid eviction.
Are you at risk of eviction?
To protect yourself from eviction, it is important to be aware of your rights. You can get more information on Tenants' Rights and Fair Housing from the following resources that are available to you here.
Are you behind on rent and/or utilities? Qualifying renters and landlords impacted by COVID-19 are eligible for 100% of rent and utilities owed. On October 24, the County of Santa Clara and its community partners are holding an event at The Neon Exchange in Gilroy to help you learn about and apply for COVID-19 emergency rental assistance programs. See flyers below for more information.
