2016 Measure A Affordable Housing Bond funded projects

Santa Clara County (County) has a variety of County-funded affordable and supportive housing developments.  On August 16, 2021, the County issued an over-the-counter Supportive Housing Development Fund Notice of Funding Availability (NOFA) for applicants to apply for various County funding sources for the development of new, permanent affordable housing. To date, the County has provided funding to developers through its NOFA to develop the following sites. Currently, there are 32 affordable and/or supportive housing developments that have been completed or are under construction:

The Veranda - Cupertino

The Veranda is an affordable housing development for seniors developed by Charities Housing Development Corporation. This development includes 19 apartment units. Six of the units are designated permanent supportive housing.  The project was constructed in May 2019 and opened in July 2019. This was the very first Measure A-funded project in the County.

Villas on the Park - San Jose

Villas on the Park image

The Villas on the Park is an affordable housing development for formerly chronically homeless developed by Affirmed and Path Ventures. This development includes 83 studio apartment units and one two-bedroom manager’s unit. The project was constructed in October 2019 and opened in 2020.

Crossings on Monterey - Morgan Hill

Crossings on Monterey

The Crossings on Monterey is an affordable housing development for families developed by Urban Housing Communities. This development includes 39 apartment units, including six one-bedroom units, 17 two-bedroom units, 15 three-bedroom units, and one manager’s unit. Twenty of the units are designated as permanent supportive housing. The property opened in December 2019.

Monterey Gateway Senior Apartments is a senior housing affordable housing development developed by Danco Communities. This development includes 75 apartment units, including 60 one-bedroom units, 14 two-bedroom units, and 1 manager’s unit. The property opened in May 2020.

Markham Plaza I is an affordable housing development that was renovated by The Core Companies. This development includes 153 apartment units, including 150 studios, and 2 two-bedroom units.  The project renovations were completed in December 2020.

Leigh Avenue Senior Apartments is a senior housing affordable housing development developed by First Community Housing. This development includes 64 apartment units, including 63 one-bedroom units, and 1 manager’s unit.  The property opened in June 2021.

Calabazas Community Apartments is an affordable housing development developed by Allied Housing. This development includes 145 apartment units, including 144 studios, and one manager’s unit.  Eighty of the units are designated as permanent supportive housing.  The project opened in November 2021.

Quetzal Gardens is an affordable housing development developed by Resources for Community Development. This development includes 71 apartment units, including 30 one-bedroom units, 12 two-bedroom units and 28 three-bedroom units. The property opened in October 2021.

Curtner Studios is an affordable housing development that underwent renovations by First Community Housing. This development includes 178 studio apartment units and one manager unit.  The project renovations were completed in October 2021.

Iamesi Village

Iamesi Village is an affordable housing development developed by First Community Housing. This development includes 135 apartment units, including 118 studios, 16 one-bedroom units and one manager’s unit.  Sixty of the units are designated as permanent supportive housing for individuals experiencing homelessness, and 49 of the units are designated for homeless veterans. The project opened in February 2022.

Vela Apartments is an affordable housing development developed by Affirmed Housing. This development includes 87 apartment units, including 29 studios, 12 one-bedroom units, 22 two-bedroom units, and 22 three-bedroom units, and two manager’s units.  Twenty-nine of the units are designated as permanent supportive housing, and 14 of the units are designated as rapid rehousing. The property opened in September 2022.

The property opened in February 2023.

This development includes 165 apartment units, including 68 studios, 85 one-bedroom units, 10 two-bedroom units, and 2 manager’s units.  Fifty-four of the units are designated as permanent supportive housing for seniors. The project is under construction.
